Vehicle Access Barriers
Where Swing Gates or Sliding Gates are unsuitable or overbearing, Smethurst supply two types of manual vehicle barriers to restrict vehicle access. Also see our new range of Automatic Barriers.
Heavy Duty Swing barriers are ideal for securing an area against vehicle access and are designed to withstand vehicle collision.
Manual Vertical Lift Barriers, often used at car parks, provide a secure method of controlling vehicle access and can be operated from one position at the roadside.
We supply a range of both types of traffic barriers and can tailor these to your exact requirements.

Vehicle Barrier Specification/Design:
Details of our barriers for manual vehicle access control.
Heavy Duty Swing Barriers:
- Super strong all steel tubular construction.
- Strengthening sections to displace weight when opening and to protect against vehicle collisions.
- Hinge mounted to main support post and secured to either of the two supplied catcher posts.
- Finished in your choice of colours to protect against rust.
Manual Vertical Lift Barriers:
- Strong mild steel construction with lightweight but strong aluminium boom.
- Strengthening plates are added to the base plate and boom plate to add stability and strength.
- Electro-galvanised to protect against rust, and coated in high visibility red and white.
- Supplied with handle and appropriate counter weight for ease of use.
- Optional skirt can provide extra visual aid to on-coming drivers.
- Padlocks supplied - barrier can be secured at the pedestal in both raised and lowered positions.

Heavy duty swing barriers are supplied in the following standard sizes:

Manual Vertical Lift Barriers are supplied in the following sizes:
| 2.5 metres to 4.5 metres |
| 4.6 metres to 5.5 metres |

| 6.6 metres to 7.5 metres |
To secure larger roadway openings dual barriers (of either type) with central locking can be provided.
Building/Installation requirements:
Manual Vertical Lift Barriers are conveniently secured down with anchor bolts into a concrete plinth.
The support posts for Heavy Duty Swing Barriers are concreted into the ground.
